FDNY vs NYPD race

My brother and I ran the NYPD vs FDNY race today in Central Park, it was so great to do something active and cool with him! I wish I had more people that wanted to run with me, I always do it solo, which is okay for me, but once in a while its nice to have that experience with someone.

Anyway, the runners were all so cool, happy and friendly, it was great to be around such open people! They were all pretty cute too might I add, lol.

First race of the spring season! MORE TO COME!

CHEERS to great life experiences, and health!

race progress

I ran hard and I ran strong today at the NYRR Mini 10K for woman.

 I ran 8:36 per mile.

Faster than any race I've ran in the past few years.

If you are going through hell, keep on going, keep on running.

I'm only getting better.

2nd race in a 5 race series, getting faster

Quick blog: I ran a 4mile race yesterday in the torrential freezing rain and I clocked in at 32min 51sec, thats 8min 13sec PER MILE! I'm getting faster and faster and I LOVE it! Me and my long-time friend ran (not together together because we don't run at the same pace). But I'm so proud of myself. We ended soaking wet, like drenched, it was CRAZY! My next race is in 3 weeks, and I want to run under 8 minutes per mile. That would be awesome! HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE, I'm so busy hopping around! haha.

My 10K race:

I am so proud to say that I ROCKED THE 10K RACE! I ran faster than I ever thought I would! I finished in 53min, 36sec! I RAN 6.2 MILES IN 53 minutes, thats almost 8 1/2 minutes per mile! I would have been happy to run 10 minutes per mile and boy oh boy did I under estimate myself! I mean... I've been training for 6-7 weeks now, so I guess I worked up to it. I'm just really happy with my time.

I started out strong and I continued that way, I killed the hills, glided on the down-hill, and finished strong and fast. Every time I saw a mile marker and the pace I was running I got the chills, it was just an overwhelming experience! I LOVE running, and I definitely love racing! Also, it was so nice to see my long-time friend there. He woke up so early to be there for me-- at 8:30am on a Sunday morning-- that was really sweet!

It's just been an all around great day, I'm happy with my race time, I'm happy that my friend was there to support me, I'm happy that we got to have breakfast together after, I'm happy that I spoiled myself with a pedicure and extra massage this afternoon, and I'm happy that I'm home now eating sushi and resting my legs. I'm going to conk out pretty soon, I'm exhausted!

Cheers to one successful race completed
and four more to go!

I want to get better and better!

Waiting in line to start.
nearing the finish, I was so fast I was like a blur! haha
 DONE!!
 my darling!

I ran this same race three years ago and I did so much worse!

resting up for my first race!

Tomorrow is going to be an exciting day, therefore, today was not so exciting, at least the latter part of the day wasn't!
I'm running my first of a series of five races tomorrow. It's a 10K (6mile) race-- I decided to run five short races instead of a half marathon or marathon this year.
THEREFORE, I stayed off my feet today in order to rest my legs. I went to the the city to have lunch with ex-coworkers at mid-day, and then headed home, and found ways to occupy myself. I touched up the paint on my walls (zzz...). I video-chatted with my husband. I cooked a great vegetarian meal and set up the table divinely-- even though it was only me. I researched things that I've been meaning to do for a while. It was nice. Lets see if it all paid off tomorrow during the race. I LOVE to push myself and challenge myself, it's what makes my life exciting!
I want to run less than 10 minutes per mile which means I want to finish in under an hour. I know I can do it!
EXCITING!!!

back in the swing of things

I'm working my running miles back up after taking a little break while I was planning the wedding. I'm now up to 17 miles per week, I could do more but don't want to injure myself. I bought new running shoes and am discovering new routes in Brooklyn and Manhattan via www.mapmyrun.com, a great site which measures how far you run and suggests routes for you.

Each week I'm going to try to increase my mileage by 1-3 miles to play it safe. I'm jumping to 20 miles next week, with my longest run being 6 miles.

I have a 10K (6mile) race in 2 weeks in Central Park, I'm going to work it! Can't wait! Me and my homeboy are running it together, a cop, lets see if I can beat a cop in a race, haha!

I love running, and am so happy to get back into it! Especially because the weather is getting nicer and I see my arm muscles forming and my energy is through the roof!

Running mixed with an intense super charged fight club class that I take twice a week at Harbor Fitness will get me in tip-top shape by the summer and help to me to feel strong again!
(I sound like an infomercial, hahah)

Okay folks, work it--work it!
