life.

I'm working from a little cupcake/coffee shop today in the West Village. It's super charming. I love the flexibility of my job. But as I'm here, I'm thinking how much more I want out of life. Like super duper experiences and happiness.

Passion drives me.
Not very deep, I know, just a quick thought.

work

Its 10:30pm and I'm still working. I had to miss the gym today and run a few miles in Central Park to avoid the train commute, therefore providing myself more time to work... responsibility... it can be tough. Sigh.

At least I got to run, right?

work

I love my job (certain parts of it, haha).
Working with young people to make art that will/does make a difference in the world creates such a good feeling inside me!

Here, they are learning to use Final Cut Pro, FCP, to edit their video together!

When I'm in the classroom I'm in my element!

PLUS-- I have great students this semester! lucky lucky me!

Now, let me get it together in the other areas of my work! I can do it!

work stress

I've been super stressed from my new position at work. Its great, I love what I do, and I feel so lucky to have this job, but the more responsibilities I have, the more I cant enjoy my personal life. It's all new to me I guess, and I have to find a way to manage it successfully and happily. Here are some tips I got from an online site:

  • Exercise more (I do that almost all the time, I cant imagine adding in more!)
  • Sleep well (last night I only got 4 hours of sleep, but usually I get 9 hours a night)
  • Make good food choices (I guess I can work on this, although I think I eat healthy)
  • Drink Alcohol in moderation (I can cut back a bit)
Looking at these tips, I'm wondering how much worse people are that dont do all of these things! Sheesh. I mean, its not so bad, but I do feel a lot of pressure. I think the key for me is managing my time better. I just have to be a bit more focused and put in a little extra work to catch up and then maintain that flow.

Not so hard to do, right? Lets see...

Monday morning, work.

Back to work this morning, I'm really not feeling up to it, but its not so bad because we have an artistic film shoot in South/East Manhattan, on the water front. YAY!

ugh... early mornings...

My new summer work schedule is kicking my butt. I have to be at work at 7:30am every day. Its horrible, because on summer nights I like to stay out late. Last night was a stay out late with a big group of people kinda night and I regret it today. I know it was Wednesday, but in the summer, you have to enjoy every second of nice weather you can get! ha.

Too bad my face is puffy this morning, I hate when that happens (lack of sleep), because my head is already so big! hahahah

Anyway, so tired today, but the good thing is that I get out at 1pm! HOLLER! I'll take a little nap and do it all again. :D good times.

This is a lot of randomness, I know... sorry.

Video blog coming soon. Its long overdue!

today was full of life, success and inspiration!

I had a GREAT day today.

Started out with an ice coffee after waking up from a smooth nine-hour sleep... sigh... my bed is like a cloud!

Then, my students and I were invited to see a preview screening of Kungfu Panda 2 at MTV studios today in Times Square. It was followed by a hilarious discussion with Jack Black! YES! THE Jack Black! He is so funny and so silly, not to mention a great actor. The film was SO inspirational, I recommend it to anyone of any age!

Our feedback form and 3D glasses

Jack Black talking about KungFu Panda 2

From there, the day just got better! My students had their rough-cut screening. They showed their in-progress film to a group of professional photographers, filmmakers and administrators. The feedback was generally positive and helpful suggestions were given for how to make the film better. (sorry, I know this is boring for the general population, but for someone like me in the film/teaching world, it was a really great experience)

From 6-9pm I had a ball in my Spanish class. The seven of us spoke about politics, the end of the world, and travel--  it was just a great vibe!

Now I'm home watching Teen Mom and blogging. I'm so happy that I waited to have kids, otherwise I wouldn't be able to live the life that I do.

Heading to Miami in 3 days! Yippie Skippy!!!!

life right now

I have so much to write about that I don't even know where to start! Okay, maybe I'll omit a few of my thoughts and just jump to one:

I got a new (second) job! I'm so excited!! For two reasons:

one-- It's a lot of extra income, and who doesn't need that, right? It'll help me save so much more!
and two-- I'll be working with an immigrant population at an international language organization, which will give me the experience I need to start my own English language business when I move back to Spain! PLUS-- I'll have the opportunity to visit other offices in other countries! EXCITING!
Teaching + international travel = my ideal job.

After an interview, I was surprised to find out that I had to do a spur of the moment teaching demo in front of a real class, with two observers watching me, I have to admit, I was a bit nervous-- ME!! NERVOUS! It was S-E-R-I-O-U-S! BUT I did really well, teaching is my strength, and they hired me on the spot!

So now with one full time job and one part time job (just one morning a week), I feel like I am set. I have a wonderful husband, the weather is getting nicer, I got rid of unnecessary negativity in my life which really made me a lot happier, and I have so many exciting positive things happening right now (work, races, friends, birthdays, bbq's, book club, boxing class, travels, husband returning)!

I started my Spring break 5 1/2 hours ago, and so far I had a fabulous conversation over sushi with six fabulous, successful ladies! I'm continuing my Spring break with positivity, confidence, love and a passion and curiosity for life!

Okay, see, I told you I had a lot to say, and thats not even all of it! I'm a topic jumper!! But thats okay!

¡Cuanta lluvia!

rain rain go away come back another day...

"Work"

"If you like what you do, you never have to work a day in your life."

If this is the case, I haven't ever worked in my life. I know it's impossible for most people to believe, but I have always loved every single job I've ever had. I wake up everyday happy to go to work. My job is fulfilling, I help change people's lives and we work towards a goal.

I am a film teacher, I work for one of the greatest, most well known media organizations in the USA, and I am so happy.
