Reflection & Appreciation

I'm on my way to DC right now. Spanish guy is sitting next to me and one of my great friends from college and a few of her friends are waiting for me at Union Station in DC to have brunch, tonight we are going to party near the White House, its her 30th birthday! She rented out a patio space at a cool bar//restaurant/lounge. Its going to be a great time, and tomorrow, after some breakfast and a beach outing, we'll be heading back to NYC and I'll be back to work on Monday morning.

I really struggled with this three-week vacation. I had too much time to think about things, and I really questioned a lot about my life right now. I felt at a loss at times with my living situation, not really my situation right now, but more so, my future home. Where to live, when to move... I'm lucky that I even have the option of moving! So I should've focused on the positive, but instead, maybe because of my monthly crazy hormones, I was concerned and stressed by it...

It's crazy how our own perspective on things can change so drastically from one week to the next. I'm usually NOT like that, but I think the timing was off with my vacation and my hormones, haha.

Anyway, as I have four hours on this bus to reflect, I'm thinking that when I'm feeling down or stressed, I should take charge of my own life, starting with a reflection on the things I'm appreciative for right now. So here they are:

  • Having friends and family all over the world to visit and have new experiences with!
  • My hair and my body
  • My husband who is super supportive, a motivated worker, healthy, handsome and a traveler!
  • The ability to afford all the things that I want in life.
  • To have a good job that makes me happy.
  • Living close to everything that I need so that I dont waste my time in transit: my job, restaurants, supermarkets, running paths, the river, a pool, entertainment, etc.
  • My energy level
  • My husbands energy level
  • My friends energy levels
  • The uncertainty of the future
  • Spain, in general.
  • My students, so funny and interesting, I learn from them and laugh with them every day!
  • Coral Colored Lipstick
  • The following sports: running, soccer, tennis, swimming and rock climbing
  • My view
  • Fresh air and water
  • Documentaries, so I have an interesting way of learning about things
  • The pillows and blankets on my bed, DREAMY!
  • My brothers.
  • My cousin and BFF.

So as I travel to DC, I'm taking control of my mood and my life. I'm sure I'll have a good time tonight because I'll be surrounded by good food and drink, and the love of my husband and good friend. Love, reflection and appreciation are what I need right now and thats what I have.

What do you appreciate right now?
