Easter in Spring Hill, Florida

This year we had no choice but to celebrate Easter the traditional way because theres not many alternatives, actually, as I'm typing this, I'm thinking, we DID do lots of traditional Easter activities, BUT we also did non traditional activities too!

Like FLYING A KITE! This idea came about because I was reading my blog from two (or three) years  ago in April and I saw that I was flying a kite in Spain, and that my next kite would be BIGGER and a RAINBOW Kite. It made me sad that I never got to do that, so my family and I packed into the car and went to Walmart (of course, lol) and bought a HUGE kite!

After we ate, we went to the beach, flew kites and watched the sunset. I LOVED it and was smiling the whole time!

my big RAINBOW kite, three years coming.

A splash from the rest of the day:

cooking, veggies, of course!
Diva-esque during the backyard easter egg hunt!
dying and glittering easter eggs
I still have a few more days in Florida, tomorrow will be the most exciting day, no more kite flying, but we have other things on the exciting/unique agenda... Happy Easter everyone!

FDNY vs NYPD race

My brother and I ran the NYPD vs FDNY race today in Central Park, it was so great to do something active and cool with him! I wish I had more people that wanted to run with me, I always do it solo, which is okay for me, but once in a while its nice to have that experience with someone.

Anyway, the runners were all so cool, happy and friendly, it was great to be around such open people! They were all pretty cute too might I add, lol.

First race of the spring season! MORE TO COME!

CHEERS to great life experiences, and health!

FINANCIAL FREEDOM

Spanish guy and I created our five-year-plan yesterday. Its basically a priority list for our life which includes where we want to be in five years and the path we will take to get there. On the top of my priority list was financial freedom and career happiness.

at work, captured by my student.
So I started on the path today (why wait? thats not my style)

My (more detailed) goals are the following:
  • to increase my earning power and
  • be more challenged
  • to make money by not working
Currently, I'm the director of an educational program, I've been doing this for a long time, its super rewarding, I love it, but its time for me to move on and UP.

SO-- today I:
  • Made an appt to see a financial advisor to help with savings and investing
  • Applied for four high level jobs to earn more and develop myself more (I like change)

This is the first step on a long and exciting road! BIG things are happening in our life!

home, sick.

I'm home sick from work today. I have a cold, which is not that bad, but I cant stop sneezing, which makes my eyes watery and makes me look and feel miserable!

I'm going to rest this morning and watch day-time trashy TV. Its a good remedy, no? ;)

staying in shape

I'm running the NYPD vs. FDNY 5mile race next weekend with my brother for TEAM FDNY! I've been training like crazy and feel so much lighter on my feet. I think it has to do with bootcamp because they make us do some crazy things! We do 5 reps of carrying a 160lb person up and down a steep hill, we do wheel barrels (remember those from childhood?), we do 200 pushups, jump squats, and leg raises, plus SO much more. I think its a good edition to my regular running. Lets see how it goes in my first race of the 2013 season next weekend!

Health is #1, and running equals happiness for me.

AFTER WORK SURPRISES

ONE SURPRISE AFTER ANOTHER!

FIRST: I received an email from the New York Road Runners saying that I qualified for guaranteed entry in this years ING NYC Marathon! Thats PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE STATUS RIGHT THERE!

SECOND: When I got home from my evening workout, I went straight to take a shower and when I went into my bedroom, I found this:

A HUGE PRESENT FROM MY HUSBAND!

I opened it up, and I found a blown up custom framed wedding picture from our Brooklyn wedding two years ago.

I love this even more because Spanish Guy (my husband) ALSO told me today that we are finally ready to have our Spanish Wedding! We are getting married SPANISH REDUX, 2014 in Malaga, Spain! I'm so excited!!!!! More blogs about this to come.

Today was an AWESOME DAY!

Life Plans

coming back from Spain got me thinking about life plans.
