Juzcar, Smurf Village, El Pueblo Pitufo

Upon arriving in Spain, my Husband and I wanted to visit a place that we've never been. We thought about Cordoba, but I wanted something smaller, more intimate, more secluded and quaint, so my mother-in-law (from Malaga) suggested Juzcar, the smurf village. At first I thought she was joking, there cant be a smurf village, in SPAIN of all places I thought... but low and behold, there was.

We drove from the Costa Del Sol through the mountains, on our way to Ronda, on a long winding road (very dangerous might I add), but with the most gorgeous views of the Mediterranean Sea and mountains, we even saw Africa in the distance. We drove around lunch time and stopped in an adorable mountain restaurant-- secluded, with fresh food, a fireplace, and friendly spanish wait staff. Twenty minutes later, through the SerranĂa de Ronda, we were there.

In Juzcar, el pueblo pitufo!

Everything was blue. It was so trippy, but adorable, exactly what we wanted to see!

Afterward we researched and found out that the Smurf 3D film premiered there, and they painted all the houses blue for the occasion. The idea was to paint them back to white immediately after, but the towns people decided to keep it Blue. It put them on the map.

This was such a memorable experience! I mean, really, who has ever been to a REAL smurf village before? But just to let you know, if you're thinking of visiting, besides being a smurf village, theres not much else to do while there...
